24 Nov

I loved Elsa’s post on Advent! Similar celebrations of advent take place here in the US as well, it’s one of my favorite times of the year. We, however, have one more holiday to get to before we can fully embrace the Christmas spirit…Thanksgiving is tomorrow!

We arrived in Boston safe and sound after only a few minor flight issues.

Here we are with our coffee ready to take off

Today (Wednesday) my husband and I were set with the task of brining the turkey. Sorry in advance for those of you who are vegetarian and or don’t like to see raw meat…but the turkey is very integral to the whole Thanksgiving experience. We were asked to use a dry brine (simply salt and bay leaves) and away we went.

Inside, outside- simple as that.

The turkey was brined and back on ice by 9:30am and we headed into Boston with my sister and brother-in-law to do a little sight seeing. It takes an iphones and a GPS to get up headed to right direction.

The main attraction of the afternoon was the Boston Museum of Fine Art. A little bit of everything and a lot of my favorites. There was a special exhibit of Degas’ nudes that alone was worth the stop . Here are a few of my other favorites from the museum.

We’re in bed early tonight with the anticipation of an early start in the kitchen tomorrow. There will be about 20 people for Thanksgiving – cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and loved ones. So far I know we will have a 28lb turkey, sweet potatoes, 2 types of stuffing, brussel sprouts, green beans, coleslaw, cranberry sauces, corn bread….and I haven’t even gotten to the desserts! I  will be sure to take photos and report back soon.
